TELL ME A STORY

READ, READ, READ, READ, READ

Ms. Mona & I went to a children's literary (reading) book festival yesterday. They had adults and children story tellers. They honored a famous illustrator (book artist) and writer named Ashley Bryan.

We made paper mask and two librarians were face painters. Ms. Mona got her face painted. This was the first time she ever got her face painted. A shooting star was painted on the right side of her face. She said it felt tickley and cold. They had books for sale, authors signing their books. Color pictures were on tables so we could color and write stories of our own.

If you are a member of the Sunrae and friends fan club you will have a chance to win a free book from one of the book vendors (sellers) that were at the festival. Contact Ms. Mona at serenityhac3@gmail to get more information about the FREE book or just sign up. To sign up to join fan club-check out my blog dated for 3/13 /09 to print registration form.

READ,Read, READ to open up a fun and adventurous life. You might even start writing your own story one day.

The cast of griot is found in almost all the West-African cultures.

Traditionally, there are two types of griots: those who are musicians and those who speak. In the Fulani society, those whose exclusively play the hodu (ngoni) musical instruments are called wambave (sing. bambazo). Generally, a griot's role in society included everything to do with communications: oral history, genealogies and social rankings, messages of social or diplomatic significance, talking drum, war drums, royal and dancing drums, music, storytelling, and buffoonery. Griot families were attached to particular noble families or a community, receiving protection and often generous remuneration in exchange for their services. One of their most important function is to keep the genealogy of families and communities.

IT'S SPRING

IT'S SPRING!!!

Yes it is Spring, and we are preparing for day light to be longer. Yeah, so we can play outside longer. We can get in playing team sports like, tennis, soccer, t-ball, e golf and ven cheerleading.

One of my friends really wanted to play soccer. She asked her mother over and over again can she play. Her mom was hesitant (unsure) because my friend already had so many other activities she was involved in. She sings in the choir, dances and does martial arts.

Quess what? her mom said yes.

So she got to play in the game yesterday and her team won. The score was 6-2. She said that there was lots of yelling and cheering for everyone. She even told me that her coach broke his leg earlier in the week, but he was able to coach her team with a cast on his leg and crutches. Seems like he is dedicated to his players. WAY TO GO!!! COACH.

So everyone get outside and have some fun in the Spring Time sun.

QUESS WHAT?

Did you know that the

Early footballs (soccerfootballs)were sewn up with laces. These days, footballs are made from synthetic leather patches sewn together in a design based on the 'Buckminster Ball' or known as the Buckyball. The American architect Richard Buckminster Fuller came up with the design when he was trying to find a way for constructing buildings using a minimum of materials.

It's marvelous MONDAY.

Yes I did not write you last Wednesday or this Sunday. With the help of Ms. Mona we a producing (writing) a book about me, Sunrae. It is planned to be published this Spring. It takes a lot of time, planning and organizing to publish (make) a book.

Well I wanted to tell you about a little boy I met at a restaurant this week-end. He was very friendly and wanted me to play a race car game with him on his computer. At first I didn't mind playing, but he started demanding (being pushy) that I didn't read first and then he yelled at me to write what place he was in the race. I did what he wanted at first, but then I got uncomfortable. I told him I didn't want to play any more. By then my food was ready and I was ready to get away from this pushy, bossy boy. Man, I really wanted to play. I wished he knew how to share and take turns. We really could have had fun together.

Have you had this happen to you before? What did you do? Did you yell back, or take the toy away or got angry and walked away?
Sometimes some kids just don't know how to make friends. Pay attention to how you make and keep friends. You don't have to have alot of friends. Having ONE BEST FRIEND or BEST BUDDY is a FANTASTIC!!! thing to have.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

"Yesterdays worries cast a shadow on todays sunshine."

Enjoy today cause it's a gift to be unwrapped from the universe.

All Honey Bees are reddish brown and black, with orangish-yellow rings on the abdomen (back part of body). The head, antennae, and legs are black. Honey Bees have thick, pale hair on the thorax (middle part of body). When Honey Bees seek out nectar and pollen to make honey with, they visit many different types of flowers, including clover, dandelions, goldenrod, fruit trees, and milkweed.

WEATHER WATCHING

A picture ms. mona drew.
A great big HELLO to you , you and you.
I a feel silly today, because I am excited about making some new friends this week. One of my new friends likes to watch the Weather Channel.
He really likes to find out stuff about tornados. He likes tornados so much that on Friday morning he started to draw lots and lots of pictures about them. He drew one that showed the tornado scooping up a parked truck. He drew a picture showing the tornado alert alarm going off in a neighborhood. He was really worried about the children being safe. He even drew a picture of the dust flying all over the place. You know a tornado is a really strong wind and it will blow things all over the place. So when you have tornado drills at school it is really important to do what the teacher tells you. I know I will. I don't want to get hurt or blown away.
After he drew eight pictures about tornados, I got to help him turn it into a book. I help him write words to go with the pictures and I colored too. After we finished every thing, we gave the book a title. It is called "My Tornado Book". It was GREAT FUN!!! Have you ever taken the pictures you drew and colored and turned them into a book? Try it, you might like it.

Good Day Everyone!

Life is full of surprises as always.

My friends and my friends, friends are always doing or learning something new about themselves everyday.

How many of you out there have sisters, brothers or cousins you are very close to? Are there times you just don't get along They always seem to bother things that belong to you or hit you when you are concentrating (focused) on something. This leads you to either argue, fuse, hitting or running to an adult to tell on them.

All of this is called confusion or plain old dislike for that sister, brother or close relative.

Well, you know one of my friends, friends sister told her that she and her brother were not geting along. An adult friend of hers told her to hold positive thoughts about her brother the next time he came around; (THINK- "my brother has a nice hair cut").

The little girl did what was suggested. Quess what? Not only did she have a pleasant time playing with her brother; her day at school was pleasant too. She had fun with her classmates and did well in all of her subjects.

THINK ABOUT THIS-Some days may feel like sticky glue and when it does just wash your hands and put on some good smelling lotion. Don't forget to share.

I use my POWER of creative imagination to let only positive images run through MIND.
