FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS

SUPPLIES

6-7 inch zipper
Tacky glue

Puff Paint pens or Slick pen paint

Velcro pieces with self sticky backs

Gems

DIRECTIONS

Use paint to make designs on zipper. Add on gems or buttons

Cut and attach self stick Velcro to each end of zipper (you will need four pieces) to cover each end of zipper.

Now wrap zipper around your wrist.

REMEMBER this is a FRIENDSHIP BRACELET so make two and give it to your

BFF (Best Friend Forever). HA! HA!

Options-glue or sew buttons or glitter for decoration.

QUESS WHAT?

Amish Friendship Bread is more than a recipe - it's a way of thinking.

In our hi-tech world almost everything comes prepackaged and designed for instant gratification. So where does a recipe that takes ten days to make fit in? Maybe it's a touch stone to our past - to those days not so very long ago when everything we did took time and where a bread that took 10 days to make was not as extraordinary as it seems today.

Amish Friendship Bread is a great bread for the holidays. When you've made your bread, you can give your friends a sample and the starter that made it! Then your friends can make their own and pass it along to their friends. This is why the bread is called "friendship bread". It makes a great homemade birthday and Christmas present. Many people make it regularly just because it tastes so good.

Amish Friendship Bread is a genuine starter bread.

If you know someone with a starter, you are in luck.

THE RECIPE
Important Note: Don't use metal spoons or equipment. Do not refrigerate. Use only glazed ceramic or plastic bowls or containers.

Required Main Ingredient
1 cup live yeast starter (see above)

Day 1:
Do nothing with the starter.
Days 2-5:
Stir with a wooden spoon.
Day 6:
Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Stir with a wooden spoon.
Days 7-9:
Stir with a wooden spoon.

Day 10:
Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Stir.

Take out 3 cups and place 1 cup each into three separate plastic containers.

Give one cup and a copy of this recipe to three friends.

To the balance (a little over one cup) of the batter, add the following ingredients and mix well.
1 cup oil1/2 cup milk -3 eggs1- tsp vanilla

In a separate bowl combine the following dry ingredients and mix well:
2 cups flour-1 cup sugar-1-1/2 tsp baking powder-2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp baking soda-1 - (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding-1/2 tsp salt-1 cup nuts Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix and pour into two well greased and sugared bread pans.

Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour

HANGING OUT

Hello to all of my friends.

Summer is almost over and I haven't been in touch. You ask why? Well I have been hanging out with my friends and Ms. Mona's family. We did alot of things. The most exciting thing we did as hang out in New York City and New Jersey.

We went to visit Ms. Mona's family their to celebrate her oldest brother's sixth birthday. WOW!!! It was the week end of the fourth of July.


I got to see lots of fire works with Ms. Mona's niece. We were on the 22nd floor of the apartment building where Ms. Mona's brother lives. That's really high up. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.

We saw fireworks all over Manhattan. We stayed up until 2:oo in the morning hanging out watching the fireworks.

Make sure your sea shells are clean and dry.

You can paint them or leave them natural.
glue the sea shell to a small magnet!

Let dry and stick to your fridge, lockers, or other metal surface!

IT'S SUMMER TIME

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO EVERY ONE'S DAD.

I know I haven't written in a while, but I'm back and school is out for the SUMMER. YEA!!! I and Ms. Mona can write more often. I know some kids won't have their summer break until the end of June. There are some kid that have breaks through out the year.

Well Happy Summer Any Way.

Have you wondered about some of the funny things you do or say? Do you sometimes even wonder about funny ways other kids say things or do ? Well I was at a book showing with Ms. Mona at a Farmers Market and we were sitting next to a drink stand. A little three year girl asked for "lemolaid" . The drink server wasn't sure what she wanted. She said it again and her mom said she wanted lemonade.

She came over to where Ms. Mona was sitting. She told Ms. Mona that she wanted to be a "dog" when she grew up and her sister was going to be a "cow". IMAGE !!! that. You know what, Ms. Mona told me that she knew a girl that eat tuna fish sandwiches everyday for one year. (She might be a fish when she grows up-NOT, Ha! Ha!). I saw someone pour syrup on their breakfast sausage. SWEET MEAT!!!

I could tell more about the way other kids pronounce words (say things), but I can't spell them because they sound really funny. People do and say the funniest things. Sometimes if you talk with food in your mouth your words don't come out right either. Ha! Ha! Ha! (Don't talk with a full mouth.) Being silly is fun.

Body Glitter

Body powder

Extra Fine Glitter

Snack size ziplock bag

Empty salt shaker

Directions

Pour 1/4 cup of body powder and 1/2 teaspoon of glitter in a snack size ziplock bag or empty salt shaker.

Shake it up.

Shake into the palm of your hand and rub it on your body.

Set up a Lemonade stand and sell a cup or two

Supplies

4-6 Lemons

Sugar (sweeter)

Water

Ice

Pitcher

Cups

Table

Lemonade Sign (made by you)

Directions:

Cut up 4 to 6 lemons and squeeze the juice out into the PITCHER.

Next Pour water, sugar(sweetener) to taste.

Stir it up.

Put ICE in the mixture to get it nice and cold.

Make a sign that says LEMONADE FOR SALE.

You make up the price.

Set up a TABLE in front of where you live or maybe a friends house

(get permission from your parent or guardian).

QUESS WHAT?

This is a tree that you can grow in your own home. You don't have to live in FLORIDA to grow lemons.

DOGGIE SPA DAY

Hello everyone.

How's your Monday gone so far? Did you treat your Mom to a special day?

Well, have a special treat for those of you who never seen a dog get groomed (shampooed, shave a little spritz of smelly doodle too (doggie perfume). Ms. Mona and I have a friend that is a mobile (traveling grooming truck) dog groomer. Her name is Ms. Wyann.

Take a look at these two poodles getting groomed.

Dog Leash or Belt?

You choose.

Materials:*one six foot length of cotton canvas strapping-whatever width you desire, but at least one inch*3 cut strips of fabrics, equal in length and width to your strapping*one of those metal thingermaginggins that latches to the collar, readily available at your hardware store*heavy duty sewing machine needles.

Fold fabic in half. Sew the ends together Fold over top and slip in metal hook loop tthat lathes th colloar and sew fabric closed around it.

Options: you can hot glue the fabric together, but sewing really holds it tighter.

***If you don't have a dog you can start a new fashion trend by wearing it as a belt.***Measure fabric to fit your waist. Ask for helpdoing this.

Introducing "NAPPY SUNRAE CROWN"

THE BOOK HAS ARRIVED. YEAH!!!

Well Ms. Mona and I have been very busy the past month. Ms. Mona finished the book about me and my hair journey. The book is called "Nappy Sunrae Crown".
It is about the different things that happens to my natural hair. My mom straighten with a hot comb, the neighborhood beautician curls it and my cousin puts in a perms, oh! thats cold. But no matter what is done to my hair, it "snaps, crackles and pops" back in to natural curls again. The pictures my brother Anthony (illustrator) drew are really funny. Take a look my hair in curls.

glue
two sided tape
glitter
stickers

DIRECTIONS

PERSONAL NOTEBOOK

Spread glue over front cover of note book.

Sprinkle glitter on top or stick your favorite stickers on front cover.

Put aside to dry.

OTHER IDEAS-cut out favorite pictures of people, singers, nature or food. Copy and shrink them to sticker size,. Next glue sticker pictures to card stock and attach picture to book with two sided tape.

PERSONAL PEN OR PENCIL

Measure two sided tape to pen or pencil. Tear off two pieces and attach to opposite sides of pen or pencil. Roll pen or pencil in glitter. Set aside to dry.

Other idea-for pencil only-roll pencil in glue and then shake glitter around the glued areas on the pencil.

TELL ME A STORY

READ, READ, READ, READ, READ

Ms. Mona & I went to a children's literary (reading) book festival yesterday. They had adults and children story tellers. They honored a famous illustrator (book artist) and writer named Ashley Bryan.

We made paper mask and two librarians were face painters. Ms. Mona got her face painted. This was the first time she ever got her face painted. A shooting star was painted on the right side of her face. She said it felt tickley and cold. They had books for sale, authors signing their books. Color pictures were on tables so we could color and write stories of our own.

DECORATIONS

Feathers, beans, noodles, yarn, gem stones, glitter, foam shapes, etc.

DIRECTIONS

All you need is brown paper

Draw an oval or round circle the size of your face.

Cut two circles for eyes

One circle for a mouth

Glue or punch hole on either side of oval or round shape to attach strings, so that you can tie mask behind your head.

Now you are ready to color and add decorations.

THE REST IS UP TO YOU!!!

OPTIONS-Now tell a story using your mask to act out the character. Make several mask for the differnt characters in the story and get your friends to help you.

IT'S SPRING

IT'S SPRING!!!

Yes it is Spring, and we are preparing for day light to be longer. Yeah, so we can play outside longer. We can get in playing team sports like, tennis, soccer, t-ball, e golf and ven cheerleading.

One of my friends really wanted to play soccer. She asked her mother over and over again can she play. Her mom was hesitant (unsure) because my friend already had so many other activities she was involved in. She sings in the choir, dances and does martial arts.

Quess what? her mom said yes.

So she got to play in the game yesterday and her team won. The score was 6-2. She said that there was lots of yelling and cheering for everyone. She even told me that her coach broke his leg earlier in the week, but he was able to coach her team with a cast on his leg and crutches. Seems like he is dedicated to his players. WAY TO GO!!! COACH.

So everyone get outside and have some fun in the Spring Time sun.

VERRY BERRY POUND

Ingredient

1 pint raspberries

1 quart strawberries

1 pint blueberries

1 pint blackberries

1 cup sugar

1 pound cake

Whipped cream or cool whip

Supplies

Bowl

Spoon

Plate

Directions

Put berries and sugar in a bowl

Mash berries in sugar with a spoon

Slice 2 pieces of pound cake

LAYER BY LAYER

Pour fruit mixture in center of a small plate

Place one slice of cake on top of fruit

Pour another scoop of fruit on top cake

Place second slice of cake on top of fruit

Pour one more scoop of fruit on top of second cake slice

Drop one table spoon of whip topping on fruit

Oh So GOOD!!!
